It is I, NinjaTheory, back again to tell you awesome tales of the world of Halo: Homefront.

He Is The Destroyer of Worlds

While you may think we’re slacking when not releasing info, Velo (arguably the only one NOT slacking) has been cooking up some awesome ship models. First one we have today is the UNSC Destroyer.

The UNSC Destroyer is noted as being one of the most painful ship to meet on the battlefield. This ship was originally considered to be too weak in conflict with the superior Covenant Ships. But soon all knew the amount of damage it could receive as well as dish out. With a Hull Length of only 7 meters longer than the UNSC Frigate, no one could imagine the destruction it leaves in it’s wake. The Destroyers armor is one and a half to two meters of Titanium A armor plating. The Destroyer also mounts 2 Magnetic Accelerator Cannons. There is so much more to be said about this beast, but without further ado, the UNSC Destroyer.

You Want These Boxes Where?!

Along with the Destroyer, Velo has whipped up a Civilian Freighter. These babies will act as Resource Collectors for the UNSC Faction. We are currently toying with the visual aspects of UNSC resource collecting, but our hope is that the crates seen on the freighter will only be visible when the collector is full and visual load/unload.

Territory Captured! Orange Team Wins

As some of you may know, KrAzY, one of the BLS texturers has begun his own web-comic series entitled Digital Gambit. Viewable at http://dgcomic.info, and updated daily, Digital Gambit is based mostly on KrAzYs views of popular media, from Halo to GTA to Zombies. Although fairly new, Digital Gambit is quickly shaping up into a popular web-comic series. So be sure to check out the site, and stay tuned, because our next update will feature an exclusive comic from the series.

As many of you should have guess, the Flood being announced as a playable faction was a BRILLIANT April Fool’s joke……and that was sarcasm.

Alien Skillz….We Haz Them

All the Covenant Ships shown in that last update though, were, infact, real. After our ingenious joke, you may not believe me. And why should you? We just crushed your dreams of a 3 faction game!!! Just to prove the Covie ships were real, here’s some titillating new promo images of the CCS and the Seraph.

Human Skillz….We Haz Them, too

Furthermore, we have some epic renders of the new Halcyon-class cruiser. Mounting a single triple-fire MAC as well as an advanced sensory array, this Halcyon takes closer relation to the Pillar of Autumn than the standard Halcyons of old. Just take a look at the pics!!!

We Are Legend

Today, Bungie released the Legendary DLC. To celebrate, Broken Line Studios will be host a Halo 3 Legendary tournament on Saturday the 19th. Official details are available on our site (link). It will consist of a variety of gametypes on the default Legendary Maps. Be sure to register before Midnight on Friday to be guaranteed entry.

We here at BLS lost track of time a bit cause of a few problems, so we’re sorry for the late update ^^ we hope the stuff we show will make up for it how ever.

We’ve gotten new forums (More or less) due to a little problem (Well a lot) with the old ones, we’re still working on integrating it with the main site how ever, but due to NinjaTheory having internet problems it’s being very delayed.

So like I said, we’ve been working on stuff as a way to say sorry for delays and stuffs, first off is the UNSC Cradle Repair and Refit station, we released this on the forums a while ago but it hasn’t made an appearance here yet.

Second off are some textures hot off the press from Krazy, the UNSC Frigate and the UNSC Scimitar light interceptor

And to top it off, we have our experimental (Subject to change or cut) frigate line up, we still plan on one last one, but given the sudden deadline I wasn’t able to complete it.

From top to bottom, we have the standard UNSC Frigate, the UNSC carrier frigate, and UNSC Heavy frigate, all are based off days of discussion in the private section of our forums, and a lot of speculation, descriptions and explanations can be found in the images section in the descriptions.

So sorry for the badly worded update, but we hope the image content made up for the delay ^^

Manifest Destiny

Broken Line Studios is expanding. We have a new amazing site, available at Brokenlinestudios.net. Also, I have the pleasure of announcing two new members to the BLS team. First off, we have Manta, the new coder. Although he has no completed Homeworld mods under his belt, he lead a community effort Homeworld 3 project, which collapsed due to lack of drive among the team. Second, we have Tzarro, the new modeller. He used to be a team member on the barely alive Halo: Outer Rim Sieges mod and will mainly focus on modelling the Covenant ships.

The Cavalry Has Arrived

In addition to all the Broken Line Studios news, Halo: Homefront has had plenty of new things coem into the mix as of late. All new ships, all new textures, and plenty more devastation on the virtual battlefields. Most of the team took a short break off over the holidays (some of us had school finals) but now we’re back on track. So here comes 2 of the new models. One of the Shipyard, and another of the all new Astraeus-class Battleship. Although still untextured, I’d say they’re quite amazing.

Together We’ll Ring In The New Year

I would just like you personally thank everyone for your support through the Mod of the Year. We were the only unreleased Homeworld 2 mod to make it to the Top 100. And a further thank you to anyone that voted for us again in the Top 100. As you may know, in 6 days, the MOTY winners are announced. Although I doubt we’ll get anything too special, I can’t help but be excited at the chance. We hope to have your continued support through the rest of H:HF development, and more so on projects to come.

As a present from me to you guys, here’s a new wallpaper. Featuring the Astraeus and some of your old favorites orbiting a UNSC held planet.

So, Here’s the Eye Candy all you have been waiting so long to see. You’ve seen most of our concepts and models, but that’s nothing compared to the following. So, lets begin, shall we?

‘Tis The Season

So, as the holidays roll onwards towards the New Year, we’ve been hard at work on all you’ll see in this update (and a few things for later =P) and we’ll probably take a well deserved break to party with friends and enjoy the holidays with our families. Maybe We’ll have somthing for New Year’s, but don’t count on it.

Conceptual Disbelief

I’m forever amazed at the art Ringleader can whip up on a daily basis. From stunning ship concepts, to the speed he can draw up additional views to those concepts. The ships just feel right in the Halo-verse, yet I’d never have even thought up any such design. So, as goodies were promised, here are some of Ringleader’s latest concepts.

Its a 3D Miracle!!!

Velo’s skills have developed amazingly since the beginning of this project, with every model looking more amazing than even the concepts made them look. Here on some newer models he’s created (as well as a new look on some older ones) with some textures done by KrAzY.

In The End…

So that wraps up (unwraps?) this Holiday’s Update. We’d like to thank all the fanboys for their support for H:HF. And I personally want to thank all of BLS for thier hardwork for the mod, and this update. Also, I apologize to everyone for the lateness of this update.
Stay Tuned to Future Updates for More Eye Candy.

Oh wait, I just remembered. We have a special Trailer for Halo: Homefront. Available on our Official Youtube Channel (Subcribe pl0x?) as well as our ModDB Video Gallery. Its also available as a High Res Widescreen Download in our Files.

Dec 3

Hello! It’s me, NinjaTheory, again. Here to tell you some of the newest HHF related new and random babble.

MOD OF THE YEAR

As most of you will notice, we have been nominated along with 4,000 other mods for the Mod of the Year Awards. We are honored to have this oppurtunity, and hopefully we’ll make it at least past Dec 15th when the nominies will be cut down to only 100 mods. We need your help to do this! Vote for us, and, whenever possible, physically abuse your friends until they follow suit. Also, don’t forget to vote for our sister mod Halo: First Offensive for Star Wars: Empire at War. Remember, you can vote for as many mods as you want, so don’t worry about if you’ve already voted for others.

BROTHERS IN ARMS

Okay, so I called HFO our sister mod….which essentially is what they are, and I know it goes against this sections title, but deal with it. We recently made a partnership with Halo: First Offensive and this will speed up production of both mods. We’ve agreed to share models, along with personnel and advertisment. Lisvania has, for the most part been our main HFO representative. Freno, an HFO texturrer/modeller (to be honest, I have no idea) recently joined us and donated a model of the Phantom Dropship for use in our mod. Needless to say, this will be a highly lucrative partnership on both counts.

ITS A BIRD, ITS A PLANE

Yea….its actually a plane. But, nevertheless, A SPACE PLANE!!! Capable of dropping bombs on things! What more could you want?…..besides one of the working versions of our mod….Anyways, Ringleader, our concept artist, has become a treasured member of our team, capable of spitting out new concepts on a regular basis. Even providing reverse angles mere hours after our modeller asked for some. Velo’s even had a hard time keeping up.

SAMUS ARAN, REPORTING FOR DUTY

Oh, wait, wrong game. But its sort of related! Beta is messing around with some custom gametypes, that MAY or MAY NOT, make it to release. I’m sure you can find similiar things for the standard Homeworld 2 gameplay, but ours have Halo Zazz!!! Most recently, he finished a bounty system. To be honest, I haven’t tried it. Been busy with things. But he says its awesome, So I’m gonna believe him.

Happy Holidays

Enjoy your Chrismahanahquanzakah season! Hopefully, those of you who are fans, that don’t have Homeworld 2 will get that for whatever holiday you do celebrate. And don’t worry, the BLS team won’t completely slack off through the holidays, but I can’t promise none of us will binge on Pies…and other things….

Anyway, We’re going to be feeling pretty festive in the weeks to come. *wink*

Nov 15

As some of you may have noticed, we have developed our own mod studio, Broken Line Studios. Unfortunately we had to close the old H:HF forums, but now we have newer, cleaner forums for the studios.

ZOMG ITS SO PRETTY!!!!

We have a new concept artist (Ringleader), and we have released a few of his concepts here. Looking through his concept gallery for the mod fills me with ecstasy at what this mod will become. Needless to say, the future looks GOOD. The only problem with the designs is that they are TOO detailed, our modeler (velo) doesn’t know what to do with them.

Velo has actually developed amazing modeling skills in remarkably little time. He’d actually never done 3D modeling before this mod, and he went from that horrible torpedo frigate thats in the gallery [I think] to these amazing new models (frigate and scimitar shown in our mods gallery.)

WHAT IS THIS PLACE?!?!?!

Hmm, so at the update to moddb v4, I fealt lost…..VERY lost, but some good things have come from it. One of those things is im not as rushed to make something cool for you guys. Another is the fact I got to do some cool redesigns, of the page (ZOMG new banner!) and of course on the new forums. All which sprung about from moddb v4. I encourage everyone interested in this mod to join our community (link) and begin voicing your opinion (in a non-nooby way.) All our team frequents the forums and we like to keep our community active (the better you guys are, the more/sooner we’ll release things.)

Well, I just tried out Beta’s version of the mod so far, and I’m quite impressed seeing this stuff in game so far.

He has quite a few models in game so far, the Destroyer, Halcyon [Built around the PoA at the moment] Longsword, Pelicans, Banshees [I don't know why those are in there though], and Phantoms, how ever I wasn’t surprised to find the textures on all but the destroyer a bit bugged.

The destroyer is nearly fulled rigged weapon wise, with 26 archers and a nuke launcher, the MAC didn’t seem to work how ever and the nukes seem to have been mixed up with the archers damage wise, but the massive swarm of missiles mushrooming off the hull of a enemy ship is pleasing

Oh, and following a longsword squad around as they gracefully glide past the PoA brings back awesome memories of getting Halo for the first time, and watching the Autumn’s last stand

Like I said, despite the very unfinished buggy appearance of it, with a little imagination it’s looking perfect so far.
